Providing safe and inclusive spaces away from the LGBT+ scene.
From 2002 in its formation until 2011 I was a trustee and committee member of the Southwark LGBT Network. This was a ground breaking community group for dole that lived and or worked in Southwark areas of London.
It was a partnership between the Metropolitan Police, LGBT History Month, Southwark Council and the Mayor of London, working with the local community.
As well as assisting in management of the group, I also organised various events such as Pottery painting with the Kings Cross Steelers Rugby team, Ice Skating with various actors and actresses and the local community, and other events which took LGBT+ events out of context for the community to make them less intimidating and more accessible.
The logo I designed in 2005 was a fun take on the rainbow theme with an element of fun and shared experience. -A theme I have used in other similar LGBT group artwork.
